Raw pellets produced in pelletizing discs have different diameters from less than 5 to more than 18 mm. The out-of-range pellets whose diameter is too small or too large cause damage to the equipment and reduce the productivity of the pelletizing process. The smart grading and control system is able to provide instant and average granulation statistics of green ore pellets in each pelletizing disc by using image analysis and with high speed and accuracy. In addition to being a nonstop and tireless observer, this system can also control the diameter of the produced pellets with the help of a closed loop control system and prevent the production of out-of-range pellets.
After providing accurate statistics of the granulation and if there is a significant difference between the manufactured pellets and the desired ones, the smart grading system modifies the speed and the tonnage of the input raw materials to the pelletizing disc through an intelligent control algorithm in order to return the granulation to the pre-defined desired state and prevent the production of out-of-range pellets.
